A Welcoming Community of Faith
Steinbach United Church accepts, respects, values and includes all people. We celebrate the wisdom of our elders, as well as the energy and enthusiasm of our youth. It does not matter who you are, where you have come from, who you love or where you are on your faith journey. You are welcome here. You belong.
We acknowledge the land that we gather on is Treaty 1 territory, the traditional lands of the Annishnaabe Swampy Cree and Ojibway people, homeland and heart of the Metis Nation.
Join us for worship on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Sunday school (ages 3-12) and Youth programs (grades 7-12) are offered during the service. Refreshments are available before and after the service for a time of fellowship.
Niverville and Steinbach United Churches work together!
Creative worship and energy abound as our two communities of faith come together to create a pre-recorded worship service. An enthusiastic team work together to plan our worship services, sharing technology, expertise and faith! This cooperative endeavour is one of the positive outcomes of Covid-19!
One spirit, many gifts, given for the common good. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
Be sure to join us for worship!
Steinbach United is an Affirming Ministry!
Steinbach United Church is a community of faith that actively supports justice and inclusion and began 8 years ago on an Affirming journey. Together we listened, studied, shared stories, faced challenges and updated policies. On March 14th, 2021 we celebrated becoming an Affirming Ministry within The United Church of Canada!
Watch the special service video of our celebration on our Worship page.
A Message from our Minister
Steinbach United Church is a part of the United Church of Canada, a national Protestant, Christian, denomination with its roots in the Reformed tradition. Our heritage includes uniting different strands of the Christian community, interpreting the Bible according to the intentions and context of the original writers and hearers, and a strong sense of Social Gospel.
The Steinbach United Church is a group of people who love music and singing, are deeply engaged in worship of the God we come to know through the stories and teachings of Jesus, and love to get together to share meals, visit and chat. We are strongly invested in reaching out to the wider city of Steinbach through volunteering and supporting community organizations, and we are active in promoting the local food bank, LGBTQTS+ support networks, and working towards reconciliation with our First Nations, Metis, and Inuit neighbours. Our congregation also actively contributes to Mission activities in Winnipeg through the 1 Just City organization and a variety of other ministries and missions. Through the United Church of Canada, we support justice and service programs throughout Canada and around the world.
My name is Paul DuVal and since January of 2019 I have worked with Steinbach United Church as resident theologian, teacher, and pastor. It has been a great delight to see the thoughtfulness, energy, compassion, and creativity, that the people bring to worship, music, study, and care, especially for Steinbach and its surrounding area.
We would love to have you part of our community of faith. Until we can resume in-church services and activities, due to COVID-19, please join us virtually. You are welcome to view our services on our Worship page and check out our latest Events.
