Today, we light a peace candle to recall a story that is told for all throughout the world. We recall the story of Jesus presented in the temple, the story of Anna and Simeon. We hear of Anna, a widow of many years, and accepted in the temple with Simeon, her partner. Both were righteous and devout. We hear of these two elderly devotees who, regardless of their age and regardless of their ability are an important presence in this inclusive story. We accept their roles in the story as elders. May our light of equity overcome the darkness.
