Church growth in the first century was a great delight but also a big problem to the first church leaders. They loved to see their numbers multiply but not from people who were “outsiders.” The church grew beyond the Jewish circles, established norms & boundaries, bringing in new practices & understanding. Unfortunately, God had a wider imagination than the leaders. God called more people, different and diverse. The legitimacy of their faith and suitability was under serious doubt. How can they be equal to us in faith, holiness and sacredness? Folks, God bestows integrity & sacredness on all people & all creation.
