The prophet comes to the scene on the eve of the fall of Israel. His message had both, judgment & hope. He served somewhere between 626 -586 BCE, about 250 years before the fall of Judah/Jerusalem. The fall of Israel is placed around 586/585 BCE. Thus, he prophesied during the peak of Babylonian reign. God had a message to the people of Israel prior to their deposition. God still speaks even in unfavorable situations. Prophets sometimes say unpleasant stuff. It doesn’t mean that it’s not God. His message was mixed & would be received with mixed feelings too. Not everyone appreciates the prophetic messages.
