In life, many of us have goals & ideals that are central in our lives. We have our values that help us decide what we need to prioritize. Why we do so depend on our interests. In the life of Israelites, they had their drivers that sustained their loyalty to God.
The prophet accuses the people of Israel of making the wrong choice, dumping their God and choosing something else that appealed to them. Not because that was the right thing but because they sought pleasure. This passage depicts someone who rises on a point of correction, to warn and try and make right the underlying intent. To complain about the ideals dropped, the noble tasks and noble values side-stepped and circumvented. God remains the foundation for who we are. We are fashioned after God’s image, both by intent and design. To seek to the noble things. How has our generation departed from the foundations? What do you consider the foundations of your faith, your values and your principles? What makes your faith tick?
