In the story of Moses and the burning bush, God tells him, “Take off your shoes, for you are standing on holy ground.” This Sunday, we reflected on how God’s presence can be found not only in churches and sacred spaces, but in the ordinary places of our everyday lives—in fields, gardens, cottages, forests, and throughout creation.
Moses discovered that the wilderness, a place he knew well, was also a place where God could meet him, transform him, and call him to a new purpose. During this Creation Season, we are reminded to slow down, pay attention, and recognize the holiness around us.
Wherever God is present, ordinary places can become extraordinary. May we take off our metaphorical “shoes,” approach creation with humility and reverence, and be ready to hear where God is calling us.
