On a day when we welcomed a new member into our church family, we reflected on Jesus’ call to practice genuine hospitality. In Matthew 10, Jesus reminds us that welcoming another person is more than an act of kindness—it is a sacred encounter. Every person bears the image of God, and when we receive one another with dignity, respect, and love, we welcome Christ himself.
True hospitality is about accepting people as they are, not expecting them to become more like us. Jesus invites us to build communities where everyone is valued, honored, and encouraged to become the person God created them to be.
As we grow in our relationship with God, we are also called to deepen our care for one another. Our faith is lived out not only in worship but in the way we welcome, include, and love those around us. May we be a community where every person experiences the grace, acceptance, and hospitality of Christ.
